I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes...

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing the world.  You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're DOING SOMETHING!
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself.  Make NEW MISTAKES.  Make glorious, amazing mistakes.  Makes mistakes nobody's ever made before.  Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or that it isn't perfect, whatever it is... love, work, family or life.  Whatever it is you're scared of doing, do it.  Make your mistakes, next year and forever. - N.G.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Love,

A few of my favourites from "The Unofficial Goldman Sachs Guide To Being A Man"

1. When the bartender asks, you should already know what you want to drink
2. When in doubt, kiss the girl
3. No selfies!!!  Aspire to experience photo-worthy moments in the company of a beautiful woman
4. There's always another level.  Just be content knowing that you are still better off than most who have ever lived
5. Pretty women who are unaccompanied want you to talk to them
6. The cliché is that having money is about not wasting time.  But in reality, money is about facilitating spontaneity
7. Be spontaneous
8. Find a Times New Roman in the streets and a Wingdings in the sheets.  She exists.
9. Desserts are for women.  Order on and pretend you don't mind that she's eating yours
10. Buys a tuxedo before you are thirty, stay that size
11. One girlfriend at a time is probably enough
12. You may only request one song from the DJ
13. Measure yourself only against your previous self
14. Your clothes do not match, they go together
15. Yes, of course you have to buy her dinner
16. Staying angry is a waste of energy
17. Always bring a bottle of something to the party
18. You cannot have a love affair with whiskey because whiskey will never love you back
19. Eating out alone can be magnificent, find a place where you can sit at the bar
20. Read more.  It allows you to borrow someone else's brain and will make you more interesting at a dinner party - provided that you don't initiate the conversation with "So who are you reading..."
21. Ignore the boos.  They usually come from the cheap seats
22. Don't ever say, "It is what it is."
23. You can get away with a lot more if you're the one buying the drinks
24. No one care if you are offended, so stop it
25. Remember, "rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men."

5 Things to Try This Weekend

When was the last time you tried something new?.......

1. Cook a lovely brunch at home and invite your favourite people over... I really feel as though no weekend is complete without at least one brunch (boozy brunches are preferred)
2. Wear sneakers in a stylish way
3. Go to a flea market and check out some amazing vintage finds... get your swap on!
4.  Call, yes I said call, an old friend and meet up for a catch up, who doesn't like to like laugh & reminisce?
5. Cheers to the weekend, enjoy a glass of bubbly with friends!

Enjoy your weekend, ♥ Locket

a little dose of L♥VE

First and foremost, I ♥ love and recently I stumbled upon some beautiful quotes and thoughts on love so I thought I would share.... now I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.

"He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you." — Bob Marley

"The moment you fall in love feels like it has centuries behind it, generations - all of them rearranging themselves so this precise, remarkable intersection could happen. In your heart, in your bones, no matter how silly you know it is, you feel that everything has been leading to this, all the secret arrows were pointing here, the universe and time itself crafted this long ago, and you are just now realizing it, you are just now arriving at the place you were always meant to be."— David Levithan, Every Day

"You’ll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things." — Jamie Tworkowski

"Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room." — Marc Hack

"Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything." — Muhammad Ali

"There is no shame in being hungry for another person. There is no shame in wanting very much to share your life with somebody." —Augusten Burroughs

"Make sure you marry someone who laughs at the same things you do." — J.D.Salinger

"If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives." — Lemony Snicket

Words of Wisdom from Andy Rooney

"For most of life, nothing wonderful happens.  If you don't enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you're not going to be very happy.  If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn't going to be happy much of the time.  If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness."

Try Something New This Weekend

Happy Friday!  I think it is super important to always be trying new things, here are a few things that I think you should try this weekend (a few of them I'll be doing myself)....

1. Cozy up with a good travel book!  Use the cold winter months to plan your next warm weather getaway... I will be reading all about Spain

2. Take your coffee to go and wander around your own city to discover something new... I do this on a regular basis and I am always pleasantly surprised

3. Take a break from your errands to pick up a sweet treat... something I indulge on a daily basis, pretty sure Thomas Haas knows my name ;)

4. Create a new playlist and take your tunes to go... perfect for a dance party or wherever the weekend takes you!

5. Skip the restaurant lines in favor of an intimate dinner party with  friends... one my most favourite things

Enjoy!

Take a minute today to reflect on the last year of your life...

What were your favorite moments?
What were maybe the worst moments?
What took your breath away?
Would there be anything you would change?
Who were the people closest to you?
Were there any life defining events?
What do you want to achieve going into 2013?
