I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes...

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing the world.  You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're DOING SOMETHING!
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself.  Make NEW MISTAKES.  Make glorious, amazing mistakes.  Makes mistakes nobody's ever made before.  Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or that it isn't perfect, whatever it is... love, work, family or life.  Whatever it is you're scared of doing, do it.  Make your mistakes, next year and forever. - N.G.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

a little dose of L♥VE

First and foremost, I ♥ love and recently I stumbled upon some beautiful quotes and thoughts on love so I thought I would share.... now I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.

"He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you." — Bob Marley

"The moment you fall in love feels like it has centuries behind it, generations - all of them rearranging themselves so this precise, remarkable intersection could happen. In your heart, in your bones, no matter how silly you know it is, you feel that everything has been leading to this, all the secret arrows were pointing here, the universe and time itself crafted this long ago, and you are just now realizing it, you are just now arriving at the place you were always meant to be."— David Levithan, Every Day

"You’ll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things." — Jamie Tworkowski

"Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room." — Marc Hack

"Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything." — Muhammad Ali

"There is no shame in being hungry for another person. There is no shame in wanting very much to share your life with somebody." —Augusten Burroughs

"Make sure you marry someone who laughs at the same things you do." — J.D.Salinger

"If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives." — Lemony Snicket

Words of Wisdom from Andy Rooney

"For most of life, nothing wonderful happens.  If you don't enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you're not going to be very happy.  If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn't going to be happy much of the time.  If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness."

Try Something New This Weekend

Happy Friday!  I think it is super important to always be trying new things, here are a few things that I think you should try this weekend (a few of them I'll be doing myself)....

1. Cozy up with a good travel book!  Use the cold winter months to plan your next warm weather getaway... I will be reading all about Spain

2. Take your coffee to go and wander around your own city to discover something new... I do this on a regular basis and I am always pleasantly surprised

3. Take a break from your errands to pick up a sweet treat... something I indulge on a daily basis, pretty sure Thomas Haas knows my name ;)

4. Create a new playlist and take your tunes to go... perfect for a dance party or wherever the weekend takes you!

5. Skip the restaurant lines in favor of an intimate dinner party with  friends... one my most favourite things

Enjoy!

Brand New Me

It's been a while, I'm not who I was before
You look surprised, your words don't burn me anymore
Been meaning to tell you, but I guess it's clear to see
Don't be mad, it's just the brand new kind of me
Can't be bad, I found a brand new kind of free

Careful with your ego, he's the one that we should blame
Had to grab my heart back
God knows something had to change
I thought that you'd be happy
I found the one thing I need, why you mad
It's just the brand new kind of me

It took a long long time to get here
It took a brave, brave girl to try
It took one too many excuses, one too many lies
Don't be surprised

If I talk a little louder
If I speak up when you're wrong
If I walk a little taller
I'd be known to you too long
If you noticed that I'm different
Don't take it personally
Don't be mad, it's just the brand new kind of me
And it ain't bad, I found a brand new kind of free

Oh, it took a long long road to get here
It took a brave brave girl to try
I've taken one too many excuses, one too many lies
Don't be surprised, oh see you look surprised

Hey, if you were a friend, you want to get know me again
If you were worth a while
You'd be happy to see me smile
I'm not expecting sorry
I'm too busy finding myself
I got this
I found me, I found me
I don't need your opinion
I'm not waiting for your ok
I'll never be perfect, but at least now i'm brave
Now, my heart is open
And I can finally breathe
Don't be mad, it's just the brand new kind of free
That ain't bad, I found a brand new kind of me
Don't be mad, it's a brand new time for me

The Kelly-Sutra

Kelly Cutrone says some pretty raw and amazing things.... I am a BIG fan of quotes and I like to think of myself as a little walking Fortune Cookie at times... I hope these quotes inspire you as much as they have inspired me.

♥ Locket xx

The Kelly-Sutra

" I hope that you, too, will choose to have a journey instead of just a life.  Actually, I hope it's a full on expedition."

"You have to put your best foot forward... Cause if you don't, the other one doesn't get to follow."

"You can fake your way to the table, but ultimately you have to learn how to eat."

"The people you love most will hurt or destroy you on some level, whether it's in the immediate future or years down the road.  So will your mother, your fiance, your husband, and your child.  It doesn't make them horrible, worthless or irredeemable, it just makes them human beings."

"Your dreams are ballbusters, they're not the yellow brick road."

"The best thing to do is to always compete with yourselves and not to compete with others."

"This is an important lesson to remember when you're having a bad day, a bad month, or a shitty year.  Things will change: You won't feel this way forever.  Sometimes the hardest lessons to learn are the ones your soul needs most.  After all, you can't truly be happy if you've never known pain.  You can't feel real joy unless you've felt heartache.  You can't know what it's like to be filled unless you've been empty.  You can't have a sense of victory unless you what it means to fail.  You can't know what it's like to feel holy until you know what it's like to feel really fucking evil.  And you can't be birthed again until you've died."

"I say that half your life is spent trying to get out of a small town and the other half trying to get back to one."

"We are people who want to play dress-up all day—we don’t want to know about all the pain in the world."

"If you have to cry, go outside."

Words to Live By

For what it's worth: it's never too late, or in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be.  There's no time limit, stop whenever you want.  You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.  We can make the best or the worst of it.  I hope you make the best of it.  And I hope you see things that startle you.  I hope you meet people with a different point of view.  I hope you live a life you're proud of.  If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

F. Scott Fitzgerald
